Clarence Jazz Festival


Held in beautiful outdoor, riverside and historic locations, the Clarence Jazz Festival is one of Tasmania's most popular music events. Audiences love the great performances, unique locations and unrivalled good vibes.

The Festival presents the very best in local jazz talent and great performers from around Australia. For 2012 the Festival is proud to announce the return of a favourite Festival Ambassador, trombonist and award winning singer Dan Barnett. The Festival Ambassador is a key element of the Clarence Jazz Festival; jamming with every band, mentoring the Young Jazz Player finalists and guiding audiences through the Festival's six-day musical journey.

The intimate and unique atmosphere of the Jazz Lounge set in the 200 year old Rosny Barn is a confirmed favourite with the audience. In 2011 the Lounge hosted two very special guest artist, the Tom Vincent Quartet featuring Julie O'Hara.

The Festival begins in beautiful parks and gardens on the eastern shore of the River Derwent and culminates in three days and nights of concerts on the Bellerive Boardwalk overlooking the Kangaroo Bay marina. Audiences at the Boardwalk love the fresh Tasmanian food prepared on site and bar serving local Tasmanian wines and beverages. On Saturday and Sunday free activities and crafts are provided for the children.

All venues are only 15 minutes from the Hobart CBD. Catch a bus or a water taxi. All outdoor concerts are free while some concerts in the Jazz Lounge are ticketed. Southern Vineyard Open Weekend

The 2012 Tasmanian Wine Guide will be published on February 26, in Tasmanias largest circulating Sunday newspaper, the Sunday Tasmanian.
The Sunday Tasmanian wine writer Graeme Phillips will provide a comprehensive overview of the local industry.
The Tasmanian Wine Guide will include location maps, winery information and tasting notes for the popular Open Vineyards Weekend on Saturday 3th March and Sunday 4th March 2012.

St Patricks Day on Richmond Village Green

Featuring the "Craicpots" a Hobart based Celtic Folk Band who will be playing from 5pm until approx 9pm. There will be food and drink stalls for you to purchase local produce.

Bring a rug, chair and all the family to enjoy the Irish Craic on St Paricks Day. Entrance will be by gold coin donation.

Richmond Village Colonial Fair

From 10.00 - 4.00 on the Richmond Village Green

All the fun of the Fair, including The Town Cryer, Stilt Walking, Punch and Judy, Sheep Shearing, Face Painting, Bike Exhibition, Pony Rides, Train Rides, Scottish Dancing, Comedy Acts and the Grand Auction. Entertainment will be by the Craicpots and the Clarence City Band. Prizes for best dressed Lady's & Genleman's Colonial Costumes and best Children's Costumes.  The Fair will be opened by The Mayor, Mr Doug Chipman. Everybody welcome.

is held every Sunday morning from 9am during summer and every second Sunday during winter. The market is located on level ground, beside the Sorell Memorial Hall, near the towns centre. There is ample car parking and access for people with a disability.

 

Coal River Valley Farmers Markets

held on 2nd Sunday of every month.

Flour Mill Park Campania from 10am to 3.00pm.



St John's Church Book Sales

Held on the last Sunday of every month in the Old School Room behind the Church.

Browse through the large variety of secondhand books, videos & dvd's, you can also enjoy a free cup of tea with Sue.
