The Coal River Valley News  is produced monthly by Richmond Online Inc.  Contributions are welcome by the last Friday of each month. These can be dropped in at the Richmond Online Access Centre in the old court house, emailed to [email protected], or phoned in to 6260 1065. The Coal River Valley News is available online, in the Coal River Valley News Facebook group, and is distributed in hard copy to 650 households in Richmond Village, and outlets in Campania. Advertising is available starting at $15 for a small classified.

Kid’s and adult’s coaching available. Social tennis is played at 8.30am Tuesdays, alternating Wednesday and Thursday mornings, and on Wednesday evenings. Coal River Valley Historical Society

An enthusiastic group of volunteers active in researching and preserving the history and heritage of Richmond. The Society manages Oak Lodge on behalf of the National Trust.


Coal River Products Association

A producers’ group representing farmers working in the Coal River Valley.


Coal River Valley Garden Club 

Meets the 4th Monday of the month from Feb-Nov at the Richmond Football Club Rooms, Victoria St. Meetings feature guest speakers, trade table and supper. Phone 6260 4153 for information. 


Coal River Valley Sustainable Living Group

The CRVSLG is a group of local residents who are interested in reducing our ecological footprint by sharing ideas and knowledge, liaising with local government and strengthening community links. The group runs the Richmond Community Food Garden in conjunction with the local primary school and the residents at the Centacare Units in Richmond. The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the Centacare meeting rooms in Torrens St, Richmond.  New members are welcome. Richmond Art School

Richmond Youth Choir

Focus on contemporary music for children 8-17 yrs. The Choir practices every Thursday afternoon 4pm at the Richmond Hall. The Choir participates in the annual Festival of Voices, Eistedfodds and community events. Cost $10/wk. Contact Music Director Louise Volkmann 0419 006 569.


​St Andrew Society Hobart Inc

​Formed in 1960 by a group of people who wanted to keep alive the traditions, dancing, music, sports and literature of Scotland.  The motto of the Society is “Cairdeas”, a Gaelic word meaning “Friendship”.  Membership of the Society is open to persons who are interested in fostering the objectives of the Society. The Society endeavours to hold a Burns BBQ in January, an Ausmas and AGM in July and a St Andrew’s Day event in November as well as the Richmond Highland Gathering in February. Membership is $10/year. Richmond Village Market – The Richmond Village Market is held every Saturday from 9am-3pm in the Richmond Memorial Hall and surrounds.

The Coal River Valley Farmers Market– This monthly market is held at the Campania Hall, 9am-1pm, on the second Sunday of every month during the warmer months.
