Hollyhock Cottage Circa 1830 |
3 Percy Street
RICHMOND
TASMANIA 7025
Built in the early 1800’s this brick and timber cottage is one of only a few remaining original timber buildings to have survived the onslaught of man and time.
It is thought that because the chimney wall of the cottage is built of brick and not timber, as was the case with the poorer colonists, this reduced the chance of it burning down from the fires spreading from the chimneys to the rest of the building.
Hollyhock Cottage would have been one of the poorer buildings in the village and as such its early histroy is unknown. In recent years, although being listed by the National Trust, it still came close to being demolished.
The cottage has been lovingly restored with original materials so as not to lose that feeling of times gone by. The cottage garden contains a barbeque area and sits on half an acre of private land.
Ideally suited to two adults, a couple with one child or a guest, Hollyhock Cottage contains a bedroom, sitting room, kitchen and eating area. The bathroom contains a double spa bath. The cottage is equipped with laundry facilities and has wood and electric heating.
Should you wish to cook the kitchen has all modern appliances and comes supplied with everything needed for a hearty country breakfast.
Nothing has been spared to make your stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. Everything has been chosen and arranged to allow you to relax and absorb the wonderful feeling of peace, tranquility and romance exuded by this lovely cottage.
Become a part of history and, for a moment in time, enjoy the comfort and ambience that only an historic cottage can offer.
