Tasmania is internationally-recognised for its sparkling wines, pinot noir, chardonnay and riesling. The Coal River Valley hosts some of the state’s earliest plantings and is home to an increasing number of premium wine producers, dominating the Southern Wine Trail. Take time to visit the local cellar doors on your own or on one of the many wine and food tours operating in the area. Buy wines to have during your holiday, or have them sent home to greet you upon your return. Most Tasmanian cellar doors will happily send your entire collection of wines home for you, even if you bought them at another vineyard. Don’t hesitate to ask!
